Related Questions:

What kind of diet/foods did the Greeks eat a long time ago? Like during the spartan/persian wars?

I know they ate VERY healthy, and a Mediterranean diet is proven to be the healthiest of all.

I want to model my diet after them in that time. So far I believe they ate:

Yogurt
Grapes
Lamb
Olives
Tomatoes
Milk

WHAT ELSE IS THERE?!?!

Answer
olives [especially olive oil was used and eaten with everything]
figs
cheese
breads [barley & wheat]
fish
eggs [chicken and quail]
raisins
pomegranates
honey
seafood [oysters, lobster, mussels, squid, octopus]
onions
lentils
peas [garden, sweet, chick, etc.]
venison [including wild birds and hares]
cabbage
nuts
poultry [chicken, goose, duck, quail]
pork [especially sausages made from pork meat]

spices used – cumin, coriander, oregano, dill, parsley, mint, pine cones, fennel, aniseed, poppy seed, garlic

beef, goat & lamb – was expensive and the poorer populace only ate it on festival days. Fish, seafood, poultry and wild game were their main sources of protein.

milk [goat, ewe, cow] – was very rarely drunk, it was considered barbaric and milk was used for making cheese. Pyriatē was a thick rather sour milk that was drunk and is today commonly mistaken for yogurt.

wine – was drunk every day, even with breakfast. It was however always watered, drinking it “straight” like we do today, was considered barbaric by the Greeks [or Hellenes as Herodotus called them].

tomatoes – were not eaten in ancient Greece, since they didn’t have them. Tomatoes originally came from South America and were introduced to Europe by either Columbus and/or Cortés during the 1500′s.

You should look into the Turkish and Italian diets as well if you want a fuller range of Mediterranean cooking. It is healthy and delicious! You could also check on the Spanish and Algerian diets.

Edit: also remember that the modern Mediterranean diet and the ancient Greco-Roman diets differ considerably. There are many more foodstuffs [such as tomatoes] available and used in Mediterranean cooking today.

What are weight loss diet pills and how exactly do they help you lose weight?

like what do they do, make you want to eat less (lol i wish) or what?

no i am not overweight, i am perfectly NORMAL, that is the problem. i weight 110 and i am 14 and that may seem ok but not for me since i am training to be a professional dancer. i dance 3 hours everyday. except sunday, and believe me, its not that easy AT ALL. so dont go on telling me i am normal, because it wont help, but thanks for the answers anyways! first one who answer my question and actually helps me lose some weight gets ten points! what other formulas or diet stuff can i like drink to lose weight?

my family is all into organics, and there is not one teeny bag of junk food in our house. we don’t eat white bread, i eat nonfat yogurt, 1% fat milk, and all the food my mom cooks is like Mediterranean and all that. we get our food at all-organic stores and not like at food4less and allbertsons and smiths and etc. whatever.

Answer
Whenever you are trying to lose weight, you should concentrate on these three things which all work together in providing a healthier and quicker weight loss goal for yourself. I have found this combination really successful in my weight loss plans. The first thing is exercising and how much you can put forth into it. The more you exercise, the more results you will see. The next thing is dieting and the calorie intake. If you exercise more, technically you could eat more? Always watch what you eat.

Now the last step in a good weight loss plan is always a good diet pill that can help you get to the end of the road. I have found Proactol which is a natural herbal diet pill to be the best around. It’s an appetite suppressant along with being a fat blocker which stops up to 28% of fat you eat. Read up about it at TheWeightLossPlace.com where I saved money on it. Proactol really works well with exercising which gives you plenty of energy to perform. Along with that your diet will be affected by Proactol due to the appetite suppressant and fat blocker. If you slip up on meals, the fat blocker kicks in. It’s really great to stop food cravings.

Concentrate on those three things and the combination is deadly for the fat cells in your body. Good luck and I hope this helps.
